The proliferation of fish farms has led to depleted oxygen levels in the water, making survival difficult for the Maugean Skate. Despite promises from Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek to prevent new extinctions, urgent action is needed to save this ancient species.

They are asking to:

• Remove all industrial fish farms from Macquarie Harbour.
• Ensure that Hydro Tasmania adjusts flows into Macquarie Harbour.
• Ensure that the Maugean Skate thrives in the wild, not in a captive breeding program or zoo.
