Grantee: Neighbours of Fish Farming
Grant Amount: USD 12,000
Duration: One Year
There is an imminent expansion in Storm Bay, the epicentre of Tasmania’s salmon industry. It is also predicted a summer heatwave that threatens widespread disease and mass salmon deaths, particularly the South East of Tasmania, where NOFF is located.
And on top of that, the industry’s operations in Macquarie Harbour threaten extinction of 60 million-year-old Maugean skate that is “just one extreme event from extinction”.
72% of the Tasmanians are already against the Salmon Industry. NOFF’s next campaign will take place in the Mainland where 85% of the sales occur.
