Traces of a chemical agent used to control the accumulation of algae and other marine organisms on salmon netpens has been discovered in salmon fillets by the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR).

Since 2017 the use of tralopyril as an antifoulant has been increasing in Norwegian aquaculture as a replacement for copper. In 2022, 98 metric tons of tralopyril were used for this purpose in the country, according to an IMR study published last week.
